Here is my take:
When comparing and contrasting an "Absolutist" government to the United States government today there is a clear difference in the foundational elements in which each is constructed and operated. In an "Absolutist" government or in other words an absolute monarchy, the ultimate authority in the state resides in the hands of a king who claimed to rule by divine right. Also in this governmental structure, the monarch is said to receive power from God and responsible to no one. Secondly, in comparing this type of government to that of the United States where we are considered an active democracy, our government consists more of a system where people of our nation are inclined to their personal rights, freedoms, and liberties as citizens given to them by documents like the Bill of Right and U.S. Constitution. As opposed to an absolutist government a constitutional government is legally bound to the constitution of the nation and the contents that lie within it in regard to the people. There is no presence of unlimited power in an active democracy, whereas this is the basis and main element of an "Absolutist" government, this difference clearly separates the two with a clear distinction on how power is delegated and practiced in positions of power throughout the two governmental structures.

In absolutist government, the ultimate authority and power rests with the king, who claims to rule by divine right. Compared to America's government today, an absolutist government is vastly different as the US operates as a federal democratic republic. The authority in the US is not held by a single ruler, but is divided among different branches of government with checks and balances in place to prevent any one branch from having too much power. In the US, the ultimate authority rests with the people, who elect their representatives and have the ability to change the government through elections.
