We should apply chain rule for this.
f'(x) = d(x4+7x2−7)9dx\frac{d(x^4 + 7x^2 − 7)^9}{dx}dxd(x4+7x2−7)9 = d(x4+7x2−7)9d(x4+7x2−7)×d(x4+7x2−7)dx\frac{d(x^4 + 7x^2 − 7)^9}{d(x^4 + 7x^2 − 7)} \times \frac{d(x^4 + 7x^2 − 7)}{dx}d(x4+7x2−7)d(x4+7x2−7)9×dxd(x4+7x2−7)
Now, we can use dxndx\frac{dx^n}{dx}dxdxn = nxn-1
= 9(x4 + 7x2 - 7)8 × (dx4dx(\frac{dx^4}{dx}(dxdx4 + 7dx2dx7\frac{dx^2}{dx}7dxdx2 - d7dx)\frac{d7}{dx})dxd7)
= 9(x4 + 7x2 - 7)8 × (4x3 + 14x - 0)
= 9(x4 + 7x2 - 7)8 (4x3 + 14x)
This question is also based on chain rule. Highly recommend to practice that question too.
